Oveja Negra (Black Sheep) was inspired by this concept that because you don't do or say what they say you are rebellious or difficult. In my country, they always said, 'Oh yes she/he is la oveja negra de la familia (the black sheep of the family)'
I always felt like the black sheep in my family, and I felt that being the black sheep was such a bad thing to be. I thought was something wrong with me. Over the years I realized that being the black sheep is not that bad, on the contrary.
Many tell you that you are a rebel, but if you think about it, to be a rebel is to show that you follow your ideals. Your own rules. Your own path. Not the others. With this what I'm saying is, I do not go with the flow, I go against it because those are my desires. Because it is born in me. Because it is in my soul to feel and be free.
People see the black sheep as a bad thing, and it is not like that. For me, being the black sheep is pride, because it means that I think for myself. It is my journey, it is my story, my life. No one is going to live it for me. And for that simple reason, people think that you are weird. Just because you think differently or see thing from other perspective, you already go against society. And I wonder, who wrote those rules? Who created those rules? Who says I have to live by them? You don't know me. You don't know what I like or dislike.
So, yeah I am a black sheep. If you go left, I go right. Just because I want to.
Stand out in a crowd is hard but is a relief. Never forget about that. Be the black sheep.
